Rohit Sharma Reclaims World No 1 ODI Rank from Daryl Mitchell ahead of India vs South Africa ODI Series

With just a few days left for the start of the ODI series between India and South Africa, former Indian captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma is back in the news once again. He has reclaimed the number one ranked player spot in the ODI rankings from New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell. He was recently surpassed by the Kiwi batter, but once again, Team India's Hitman has become the number one batsman in the 50-over format with a rating of 781.

Mitchell missed the last two matches of the ODI series between New Zealand and the Windies  which resulted in his rating points getting deducted and this allowed Rohit to dethrone him at the top.

Despite Mitchell losing out on the top batting position, New Zealand had some reason to celebrate. Batting All-Rounder Rachin Ravindra move up by one rank to the twelth position, while wicket-keeper batter Devon Conway also saw a rise in his ranking, as he climbed by 11 spots to the 31st. Shai Hope - the ODI skipper of the West Indies moved to the 7th position thanks to his amazing unbeaten hundred in the second match of the New Zealand ODI Series.

Rachin Ravindra moved up one rank to 12th, Devon Conway vaulted 11 spots to 31st among ODI hitters, and West Indies captain Shai Hope climbed to seventh with an unbeaten century in the second ODI of the series. The Kiwis also  witnessed improvements in the 50-over bowling rankings, with left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner moving up to the 6th rank and seamer Matt Henry advancing to equal tenth following their impressive performance versus the West Indies.

Sikandar Raza, the veteran all-rounder of Zimbabwe has scripted history as he became the first player from the African nation to be crowned as the number one ranked all rounder in Twenty-Twenty cricket. The 39-year-old has been in amazing form in the ongoing tri-nation series versus Pakistan & Sri Lanka, playing a brilliannt knock of 37 runs with the bat and bowling four productive overs without conceding a lot of runs in his side's most recent clash with Sri Lanka.

Talking about the Test Player Rankings, England's right-handed batsman Ollie Pope moved to the 24th spot, while Bangladeshi trio of Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim & Mominul Haque also made massive jumps after their team's 216-run win versus Ireland in the city of Mirpur.

After his Player of the Match performance against England, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc rose four spots to fifth among Test bowlers, while Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam also improved to fifteenth. Ben Stokes moved up to second place behind India's Ravindra Jadeja among Test all-rounders, while Starc moved up two places to fifth.
